Lady Avalon
Moonstone Jewelry.
The pendant measures 4.5 x 4 cm
This jewelry is inspired by the symbol from the cover of the sacred Chalice Well in Glastonbury, a place often associated with the legendary Avalon. The motif itself was created in 1919 according to the design of the architect Frederick Bligh Bond and is still one of the most famous symbols of this healing spring. It is formed by the Vesica Piscis figure - the intersection of two circles, which since ancient times symbolizes harmony, the connection of opposites and the emergence of new life. In its center, it creates a shape resembling a gateway between the worlds, a symbol of transformation, birth and the connection of the visible with the invisible.
The dominant element of the jewelry is moonstone, a mineral from the feldspar group, famous for its delicate bluish to silvery shine. This optical effect, called adularescence, is created by the reflection of light on microscopic layers within the stone and resembles moonlight reflecting on a calm water surface. Moonstone comes in shades of white, cream, peach and grey and has been prized for its gentle and mysterious beauty for centuries.
The combination of the Avalon symbol and moonstone creates a powerful image of intuition, inner wisdom and trust in the natural course of life. Vesica Piscis is seen as a meeting place of different forces, where new possibilities and deeper understanding are born. Moonstone complements this symbolism with its traditional connection to feminine energy, sensitivity and the ability to listen to one's inner self. The piece of jewelry can thus be a reminder that true strength does not come only from determination, but also from calmness, patience and trust in one's own path.
The construction of the jewelry is handmade from surgical steel and the connecting material is an alloy of tin and silver. The jewelry is then treated similarly to silver - we polish it once in a while. The more the jewelry is worn, the better, it polishes itself on clothes, the wearer's skin, etc. The metal is stable and does not contain nickel or heavy metals. The jewelry can be worn all the time, even in water, but it is good to dry it afterwards and treat it more often. The jewelry is hung on a braided, cotton cord and secured with an enlargement knot.
