Hypersthene is a dark pyroxene mineral with a distinctive bronze-to-silvery luster, formed in rocks rich in magnesium and iron. Its dark coloration and metallic, silky sheen lend it a mysterious quality; in esoteric symbolism, it is associated with grounding, inner strength, protection, and the ability to navigate challenging transitions.
Flanking the stone are two crescent moons, symbols representing cycles, transformation, and the boundaries between different stages of life. This is where the piece connects to Hecate, the Greek goddess of crossroads, night, magic, and transitions. Hecate stood at the places where paths diverge, symbolically guiding individuals as they crossed from one state of being to another. The two crescents create the image of a gateway or passage, while the dark hypersthene represents a solid center—a source of strength that guides one through the darkness.
The piece is handcrafted from surgical steel, using a tin-silver alloy for the connections. It requires care similar to silver jewelry—occasional polishing will keep it looking its best. The more the jewelry is worn, the better; it polishes itself through contact with clothing, the wearer's skin, and so on. The metal is durable and contains neither nickel nor heavy metals. The pieces can be worn constantly, even in water, though it is advisable to dry them off afterwards and care for them more frequently.
