Crystal is a clear, transparent variety of quartz made of silicon dioxide. It is formed by gradual crystallization from hot mineral-rich solutions that penetrate cracks and cavities in rocks. If the crystals have enough space and time to grow, they form characteristic hexagonal columns topped with a point. Raw crystal from the Ural Mountains retains its natural shape, small irregularities and traces of the geological path it traveled during its formation.
