Agate forms deep within the cavities of volcanic rocks, particularly in silica-rich lava. As mineral-saturated solutions enter these cavities, quartz and chalcedony gradually deposit in layers, slowly filling the space. This process takes a very long time and is responsible for the characteristic banding and patterns found in every agate.

In esoteric traditions, agate is considered a stone of stability, protection, and inner balance. It is associated with calmness, patience, and a steadfastness that stems not from outward force, but from a well-grounded inner self. Agate has been part of human culture for millennia; since ancient times, it has been used to craft amulets, seals, and protective objects, earning a reputation as a symbol of protection, strength, and stability. Ancient traditions prized it as a stone believed to shield the wearer from misfortune and help maintain composure and resilience during challenging situations.

The piece is handcrafted from surgical steel, using a tin-silver alloy for the joinery. Maintenance is similar to that of silver—occasional polishing is recommended. The more the piece is worn, the better, as friction against clothing or the wearer's skin provides natural polishing. The metal is durable and free of nickel and heavy metals. The jewelry can be worn continuously, even in water, though it should be dried afterward and may require more frequent maintenance. It hangs on a braided cotton cord secured with an adjustable sliding knot.
