Chromdiopside is a deep green variety of the mineral diopside, the color of which is caused by an admixture of chromium. It is formed deep in the earth's crust at high temperatures and pressures, often in rocks rich in magnesium. Its distinctive green color is reminiscent of deep forests and lush vegetation, which makes it look natural and alive.

In the esoteric tradition, chromdiopside is associated with renewal, growth and life energy.
