Black obsidian is a natural volcanic glass that is formed when lava cools very quickly, when the minerals are not able to arrange themselves into a regular crystalline structure. Its deep black color, smooth surface and glassy shine are a direct result of this rapid cooling. Each piece is a unique imprint of ancient volcanic activity and a reminder of the power that arises in the depths of the Earth.
In the esoteric tradition, obsidian is associated with protection, grounding and self-knowledge. It is perceived as a stone that helps to turn attention inward, name what is hidden and confront one's own truth. Its dark color symbolically represents depth, silence and space in which a person can find their inner strength.
The construction of the jewelry is handmade from surgical steel and the connecting material is an alloy of tin and silver. The jewelry is then treated similarly to silver - we polish it once in a while. The more the jewelry is worn, the better, it polishes itself on clothes, the wearer's skin, etc. The metal is stable and does not contain nickel or heavy metals. The jewelry can be worn all the time, even in water, but it is good to dry it afterwards and treat it more often. The jewelry is hung on a braided, cotton cord and secured with an enlargement knot.
