Chrysoprase is a green-colored variety of the mineral chalcedony. Of all the varieties of chalcedony, this gemstone is the most valued. The name comes from the Greek (chrysos = golden, prasinos = green). Like other varieties of chalcedony, chrysoprase is formed near the earth's surface at relatively low temperatures (about 120 °C). The typical apple-green color (which varies from yellow-green to grass-green) is caused by hydrous silicates (or oxides) of nickel (e.g. kerolite, pimelite). Chrysoprase was already used by the Greeks and Romans. It became particularly popular in the 14th century, when Charles IV had it decorated in the St. Wenceslas Chapel in Hradčany and also in the chapel at Karlštejn. Chrysoprase raises emotions and provides hope, calms, brings pleasure, success in new businesses and new friends. It attracts money, removes envy, selfishness, tension and stress. It helps to forgive, accept oneself and others, drives away distress, is an amulet against nightmares, gives a sense of security, trust and certainty, and protects.
The construction of the jewelry is handmade from surgical steel and the connecting material is an alloy of tin and silver. The jewelry is then treated similarly to silver - we polish it once in a while. The more the jewelry is worn, the better, it polishes itself on the wearer's clothes, skin, etc. The metal is stable and does not contain nickel or heavy metals. The jewelry can be worn all the time, even in water, but it is a good idea to dry it and care for it more often afterwards. The jewelry is hung on a braided, cotton cord and secured with an enlargement knot.
